Event Terms and Conditions
1. Purpose
The New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV) aims to provide events that are inclusive, professional, and supportive of our membership and the wider valuation community.
These Terms & Conditions set out the expectations for registration, attendance, cancellation, substitution, and conduct at all NZIV-organised events — whether held in person, online, or in a hybrid format.
2. Registration & Payment
Your place at an event is secured only when full payment (if applicable) has been received, or another written agreement has been made with NZIV.
All registration fees are quoted in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and include GST, unless otherwise stated.
Registrations are not transferable unless permitted under the substitution policy (see below).
3. Cancellations, Refunds & Substitutions
- Full refund: If you cancel your registration five (5) or more days prior to the event, you will receive a full refund of any registration fees paid.
- 50% refund: If you cancel between five (5) days and 24 hours prior to the event, you will receive a refund of 50% of the registration fees paid.
- No refund: If you cancel within 24 hours of the event start time, or fail to attend without notice, no refund is available.
- Substitution option: You may substitute another person within your company to attend in your place at any time prior to the event, provided NZIV receives the substitute attendee’s details in advance of the event start time. No additional fee will be charged for substitution.
- Exceptional circumstances: NZIV retains discretion to approve full or partial refunds outside these standard timeframes in cases of genuine and unforeseen events (for example, certified medical incapacity or extreme weather preventing attendance). Supporting evidence (e.g., a medical certificate) may be required.
All discretionary refund decisions will be made by the NZIV Education Committee (or designated staff) and may involve consultation with the Committee Chair. If you are uncertain about your eligibility, please contact NZIV for guidance.
4. Event Changes or Cancellation by NZIV
NZIV reserves the right to change event details (date, time, venue, format, or speakers) or to cancel/postpone an event if circumstances outside its control require it.
If NZIV cancels the event, registrants will be offered a full refund of registration fees paid, or, at NZIV’s discretion, an alternative event date or format.
NZIV is not liable for any additional costs incurred by registrants (such as travel, accommodation, or other personal expenses).
5. Conduct at Events
All attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and staff are expected to behave professionally, respectfully, and in alignment with NZIV’s values.
- Discriminatory, harassing, or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
- NZIV reserves the right to refuse entry or remove individuals from an event if their behaviour is deemed inappropriate.
- No refund will be issued in such cases.
For online or hybrid events: Participants must respect the event format, the speaker(s), fellow attendees, and the host at all times.
6. Privacy & Media
By registering for an event, you consent to NZIV using photographs or video footage taken at the event for communication and promotional purposes, unless you have advised NZIV in writing prior to the event.
Personal information collected during registration will be used in accordance with NZIV’s Privacy Policy and solely for event administration purposes.
7. Scope
These Terms & Conditions apply to all NZIV events (in-person, hybrid, or online), unless specific alternative terms are advised in writing at the time of registration.
By registering for and/or attending an NZIV event, you acknowledge and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
