Property Valuation Standards Board
The Board’s role is to develop guidance that supports members in their professional practice. The Australian and New Zealand Guidance Papers for Valuers and Property Professionals outline recommended best practices for valuers in New Zealand, offering practical direction and helping ensure alignment with ethical obligations and Standards.
The Board is responsible for creating new guidance papers, updating existing documents, and promoting the adoption of International Valuation Standards as issued by the IVSC.

FARMC
Financial Audit & Risk Management Committee
The FARM Committee work together with the NZIV Council to align financial planning with the Council’s strategic goals, identifying risks and ensure we satisfy our statutory obligations under the Valuers Act 1948. This involves taking responsibility for the budgeting process, with an emphasis on allocating the necessary financial resources to support the Institute’s operations.

Education Committee
Focused on valuer development
The Education Committee supports NZIV Council by helping to ensure members have access to relevant, high-quality education and professional development. Its work aligns with the NZIV CPD Policy and the Valuers Act 1948, with a focus on maintaining professional standards and supporting members in their ongoing learning.

Marketing Committee
Promoting the NZIV brand and profession
The NZIV Marketing Committee’s primary focus is to strengthen and promote the New Zealand Institute of Valuers’ brand and its members skillset. Improve stakeholder and member engagement, build public awareness of Registered Valuers and the important contribution they make to the property sector and New Zealand’s financial system.

Membership Committee
Enhancing membership services and processes
The intended purpose of the Membership Committee is to enhance membership services. This includes membership advancement and awards, streamlining the membership advancement processes, providing useful analysis of membership data, and executing the affiliate membership process.

Advancement Interviews Sub-Committee
Reviewing ANZIV applications for consistency
This sub-committee complete an initial review of applications for Associate membership (ANZIV). The Councillors review applications against the criteria set out by the ANZIV Process Document, and provide advice and comments to the local Branch on the members' application. This ensures that the quality of applications is consistent across the country

PCC
Professional Conduct Committee
The role of the PCC is to ensure that where the NZIV decides to investigate a complaint against a Registered Valuer, a properly constituted Committee undertakes that investigation fairly, in accordance with the rules of natural justice. Accordingly, the PCC acts as an investigative body. Although it is constituted by NZIV Council and acts only in accordance with its delegation it makes its decisions with respect to each complaint independently.
The PCC operates under a formal Terms of Reference, which sets out the role, functions and procedures of the PCC.
Under the Valuers Act 1948, the Valuer General, who is appointed by the Crown, performs a range of functions on its behalf, including the investigation of certain complaints against Registered Valuers. Accordingly, each party has a statutory role in the regulation of Registered Valuers and a common interest, as investigating parties, in the efficient and robust determination of complaints against Registered Valuers. As such, NZIV and the Valuer General have recorded and entered into a Memorandum of Understanding.
