The New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV) is the statutory professional body for property valuers in New Zealand, established by the Valuers Act 1948, the institute plays a vital role in maintaining professional standards across the industry. NZIV provides regulation and public assurance in valuation services that support property market stability. We offer valuers a professional identity, network access, and structured education to maintain high standards. NZIV supports the public interest by promoting ethical, independent, and defensible valuation practices throughout Aotearoa.

NZIV Key Functions
The Institute is committed to promoting ethical conduct among valuers and other members of the Institute.
We aim to maintain the integrity and status of valuers and other members of the Institute generally.
The Institute supports ongoing education and knowledge-sharing in land valuation and related fields, advocates for legal reforms, and provides mechanisms for the amicable resolution of professional disputes. We provide means for the amicable settlement of professional differences and protect and promote the interests of the profession of valuing and the interests of the public in relation to valuations of land and related subjects.
