NZIV branches

Local connection, national impact

The New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV) is supported by 17 active branches across Aotearoa, spanning both metropolitan and regional areas. Each branch plays a vital role in delivering professional connection, promoting high standards, and engaging members locally in alignment with NZIV’s national direction.

The role of NZIV branches

What do branches do?

Branches operate under delegated authority from the NZIV Council and contribute to the profession by:

•    Fostering community among valuers through networking and inclusive engagement
•    Delivering CPD events such as site tours, keynote speakers, and local seminars
•    Supporting emerging professionals on their path to registration
•    Championing professional standards and NZIV’s Code of Ethics
•    Representing the profession locally and offering feedback to national initiatives
•    Advancing membership through ANZIV interviews and Fellowship nominations
•    Promoting education in land valuation and related disciplines
•    Encouraging law reform discussion relevant to valuation practice
•    Contributing to NZIV strategy via Branch Chairs Forums and annual reporting

Branch activities must align with NZIV’s Rules, policies, and the Valuers Act 1948. They are coordinated through local committees that reflect the values of professionalism, diversity, and ethical leadership.

Branch Governance

Each branch must have a functioning committee consisting of:

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Committee Members

Branches are encouraged to include emerging professionals and support diversity and succession planning.

Committees and Functions

Branches may establish subcommittees to support:

  • Membership & advancement
  • CPD & education
  • Emerging professionals
  • Social events & networking
  • Social media and communication
  • Other branch advisory functions include advocacy, ANZIV applicant review, and Fellowship nominations.
